The Orlando Magic are gonna breakthrough!

It's finally happening.

Ten frustrating years of injuries, bad draft picks, bad trades, bad coaches, bad general managers, and even bad ownership have left the Orlando community swimming in apathy with regards to the success of the only major professional team in town.

Forty five victories and counting ( possibly headed for as many as 52-54) would result in the best regular season finish since the departure of Shaq. Yet locally hardly anyone has noticed.

Could it be due to the lack of TV coverage from the Britehouse and FSN dispute keeping half the games off local TV? My money says that the "out of sight-out of mind" mentality is definitely a factor. But lack of success in the playoffs over the last ten years is really at the heart of the matter.

The Magic have not advanced past the first round since the last year that Shaq was still a member of the Magic. There has not been a buzz about this franchise since that last 60 win team. Why no buzz now?

Apathy. The solution?

It's simple, having playoff success will return the enthusiasm to a prominent level in the community. Success in the second season means at minimum a second round appearance.

With financing for a new arena in tow, positive momentum for the franchise is critical for the future. With the core players signed (Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis) to long term contracts it's now time for meaningful results on the court.

This year marks the return to relevancy in Orlando for the Magic.
